Halawa Henna experiencePosted by Willowhawk on April 20, 2001 at 11:35:25: Greetings,Over the last couple of years I have lurked around here, I have seen posts regarding Halawa Henna. Some like it, some don't. When I started doing this, I wasn't happy with the quality of my henna powder and when I saw this kit with the decent book in it I purchased it. This is the only henna kit I have ever bought and it was the one that had Halawa Henna in it. I got a really decent stain from it, and was happy that I had finally acheived darkness, but unhappy that they were nearly impossible to order from. Anyway, on April 7th my pregnant friend had a 'henna the belly' party. She had purchased this same kit. I also brought a ton of my own paste with me. Well, the cones/bags in the kit broke. The seams just blew out, so here I was rolling cones for everyone. The pattern on her belly was very large, it consisted of 8 eggs (which we all filled in), spirals, and a thorn/vine around it all. When everyone left, I filled in all the empty spots with a filigree design. I only used my own paste, didn't even touch the Halawa Henna stuff. Well I saw her on the 12th and she showed me her belly...strangest weirdest thing I have ever seen. ALL the Halawa Henna designs had disappeared!!! I hadn't realized that my paste was the main one used, thank the Gods. But every place that was mehendi'd with Halawa paste was blank! All the spirals, the vine/thorn/ and one egg, looked as though nothing had ever been there. Was this a problem with Halawa powder? And I did take a pic of her with all the paste on, but didn't catch her with the paste off. I'll post the pic in a couple of weeks. Blessings, Willowhawk
