AntiVirus Software - Protect yourselves rant.....Sorry not henna related at all!!!!Posted by mark on April 27, 2001 at 10:05:35: Not really the right forum for it but applicable at the present time. You can if you havnt got av software go to www.norton.com or www.mcafee.com and run their online facility which will check your system. If you suspect you have something dont whatever you do turn you computer off....try and run a check before hand.....a great deal of viruses need you to restart. Norton Av is kinda okay as they deliver updates quite regular.....but then again they had a virus attatched to an update a few weeks ago. Mcafee is quite good and they do an online service which is pretty quick. Final alternative is avg.com whom supply free av software and update it quite regular. Finally i would like to point out that although most viruses are sent by email and therefore can be spotted easily they also usually contain trojans that enable someone to access your computer which is a lot more of a risk! Invest in a good av program and a good firewall program and update them both regularly. The firewall will stop anything trying to get into your computer from a remote system (stops all trojans dead!) The av software will detect the virus and recommend how to tackle it. Finally....always go to mcafee.com and search for the info on your virus. This is very important as viruses are sometimes self replicating and can cause huge havoc. Check the experts first and follow their advice. If you need help. contact me and ill see what i can do
