Dryin and GrindinPosted by Darlahood on May 3, 2001 at 22:04:08: In reply to: Coffee Grinders posted by Shabree on May 3, 2001 at 21:10:41: : Would these be good for grinding fresh or dried henna leaves? Howdo you dry henna leaves and how long would it take? You cure henna the same way you cure tobacco, hang it to dry. There are different ways to do this to preserve the structure and flavor of the plant, not just letting it sit somewhere and potentially get all moldy and lose all it's "stuff." If you choose to air dry your henna, make sure the area is low humidity and well ventilated. Check the henna every day to make sure no mold is forming. Another way is to put the henna into a coffee canister with some dry ice, cover the henna with a towel to keep it separate from the ice tho, and put it into the freezer. The dry ice will dry the henna as it disintegrates. Because it's in the freezer it will evaporate at a slower pace, thus curing the henna (or whatever) without losing any good henna mojo, keeping it as fresh as possible. I don't know about grinding with a coffee grinder, never tried that... Maybe a food processor. Traditionally they probably pulverize the shit out of it, but without a machine to do it, that sure isn't going to do anyone's carpaltunnel any good.
