DON'TPosted by jessica on May 10, 2001 at 01:34:21: In reply to: hippies.... posted by Talia on May 9, 2001 at 23:22:44: Hi Talia-I spent 4 years as a student at an Art College and now work there as well. It is now college wide policy to NOT use paint thinner due to its extraodinary toxicity. Almost 100 percent of our professors, who are all professional artists, now are suffering from exposure to paint thinner. They, hack, cough, spit phlegm, and have asthma, it gets worse from there.... These people washed their hands in paint thinner and turp. just like you! The thinner doesn't just soak into your bloodstream but evaporates into the air so when you breath it's inhaled into you lungs and through your bronchial tubes. We work hard here to convince new students and first time freshmen, no slam on age it's just they are inexperienced, to at least switch to a no odor low toxic substitute. These are available at your art store. Go ahead and put these things in your henna but only when you apply it to yourself. It is really not appropriate to apply paint thinner to others, even if they consent. They may have an immediate reaction and you will be charged for the visit to the emergency room. Careful! Jessica
