How henna is applied(on bellies) in IranPosted by Erfan on May 19, 2001 at 16:40:22: In Iran also pregnant bellies were decorated with henna-this tookplace in the seventh month, cause seven is the symbol of god(In Iran). The designs were very fine and were full of symbols(there will be some in my book......). The henna was usually mixed with limejuice, sugar and also with a LIL BIT of honey.......(honey is also something allah-related) Then the sealers were: 1st layer:limejuice with honey 2nd layer:just okra juice 3rd layer:honey 4th layer:lime juice 5th layer:again okra 6th layer:honey 7th layer:lime juice with okra and honey (seven layers were applied again because of the symbol of god) Also henna on pregnant bellis definitly comes out better then on non- pregnant bellies...... (because pregnant bellies are always warmer then normal unpregnant bellies.........) Then in Iran the henna on pregnant bellies were left on for EXACTLY 7 hours(you´re right..again the symbol of god!) Also,if the mother had the energy to dance,a bon-fire was done and she had to dance around the bonfire for 49 times......(7x7=49) for her husband.----- Hope this lil history helps you all a lil bit. Erfan
