CamphorPosted by Willowhawk on May 20, 2001 at 20:37:40: In reply to: How interesting.. posted by Kree at Gilded Lilies on May 20, 2001 at 14:50:28: : On Willowhawks' page there are slight differences when camphor is: added. It's too bad she doesn't have pictures of two days later -- : when the proof of the pudding is really there. : Ciao! Yes I know!!! A couple of things I learned from my Henna guinea pig volunteer....next volunteer to be done on a Friday night, No kids, paste left on much longer and photos for 3 consecutive days. But as for the differences with Camphor, I have noticed that it does stain quickly when applied to the skin, and that the stain does darken quicker. I did the back of my hand ( a notorious area that doesn't stain well) with a camphor batch last month and it got surprisingly dark brown, where as the palms stained a dark burgundy color, with some near black spots. The stains on both sides lasted for a couple of weeks. The darkest spots on my palms took the longest time to go away. All in all, it's an ingredient that I will continue to use. But if I am going to do Mehendi on someone other than myself, I like to have a batch w/ camphor and another w/o it. In case there is any irritation to it, just to be on the safe side (even though the amount of camphor is minimal). Blessings, Willowhawk
