posting about PPDPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on May 24, 2001 at 14:16:11: In reply to: UK Black Henna-Now no PPD??? posted by Baron on May 24, 2001 at 13:21:23: Perhaps the forum had an effect. If so....that is an excellent thing. The forum has had a genuine effect on PPD many, many times. PPD is going to be extremely difficult to eliminate, and will take relentless persistance, in all forms. I've spent an enormous amount of time since last year's Sirius Rising working to stop PPD additions to henna (when we agreed on a mandate that "something must be done", and that I would go after it.) I would have gotten precisely nowhere without Jeremy's Rowntree's Henna Page and the dedicated forum participants. Thanks to everyone here who posts, writes, and gets involved. I don't see much fault in being passionate about shutting down PPD, even if there are judgement errors along the way. Because many people here are passionate about henna, and do not want to see this art form ruined by the stupid and greedy ..... the cumulative efforts of the group have made a world of difference in the fight to inform people about PPD. That's something to be proud of, and cooperation between people here is needed to keep going. I'll grant, that (quoting from the post a few days ago) " (xxxxx black henna purveyor) is getting more hits" (yes, probably) "and purchases"(highly unlikely) "because you fools" (I'll grant that I, personally, am a fool, but please do not paint these other good people with the same brush as you do me!) " are posting so much about them " (where, precisely is the harm in posting?) . Considering the way search engines pick up on these posts, and they DO stay here forever .... I think it is prudent to post when there is a problem! Therefore, anyone picking up the post years down the road will see that though there is a black henna source, it is found by most to be highly objectionable! This is a good thing. If one PPD slinger is deterred, that is an excellent thing. If one physician gets informed and can provide appropriate treatment, that is an excellent thing. The more posts that accumulate on PPD, the easier it is to persuade journalists, lawmakers, artists, the FDA and the powers that be to take the PPD problem seriously! "Post" isn't just for breakfast anymore. It does a body good. And I, for one, have no problem with being a fool. We rush in were angels fear to tread.
