Organize!Posted by jessica on May 25, 2001 at 02:21:46: In reply to: I need a Self Confidence-Rant posted by samantha on May 24, 2001 at 23:18:41: It's really nerve wracking doing henna at your first festival, or thefirst event of the year, or in front of other mehndi artists, etc. Just try and make a list of everything you'llneed and as you pack check things off. I have to it that way or I always forget something, don't feel bad, once I got to a site and realised I had left the henna at home! I was an hour away!! Talk about jitters. Really, that's normal but you'll do fine. No one there will know that this is your first event. They assume you're a professional and most likely no one will question you, just stay relaxed and view it as fun and lots of practice. As for being nervous you'll be asked to do too dificult patterns or things will turn out badly... Just don't offer patterns you're sure you can't pull off right now and don't be afraid to say no. No, its just too busy, no that one isn't very pretty on-how about this design, what about this one- it's a bit less expensive. Lots of ways to shift peoples attention but I strongly recommend just not offering patterns you're not totally comfortable with. Oh - I practice drawing a pattern 5 or 6 times w/a marker before I put it in my fest.notebook, just to make sure it's a natural feeling for me and I will allready have experience with that one if someone asks for it. Hang in there, try to be very organized, make sure you eat breakfast and have lots of fun, afterall that's why you're there. Jessica
