This is PennsicPosted by Zimra on May 31, 2001 at 00:21:40: In reply to: what is?? posted by jazibe on May 30, 2001 at 23:50:41: : I've saying "it's ok to ask!!", so here's my question:: What is Pennsic? Where/when is it? : thanks Pennsic is an annual event of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). Basically, the SCA is a group that researches and recreates the Middle Ages. Here's a link for info on the SCA: htp://www.sca.org/sca-intro.html Pennsic, or the Pennsic War, takes place every year during the 2 weeks before and including the 3rd full weekend in August (sounds strange, but that's how they pick the dates.) It is in Slippery Rock, PA, which is in the western part of the state (about an hour from Pittsburg I think, maybe less). This year it runs from August 3 to August 19. Many people attend only the second week. Pennsic is full of parties, classes, shopping, and battles. It has around 10,000 attendees, all of whom must make an effort at wearing pre-1600 CE garb. It's required. Accomodations are tent camping only. (unless you want to commute from a hotel). More info can be found at: http://www.pennsicwar.org/ Zimra
