I know I've read other scholarly sources that indicated that the children "disappeared" pretty quickly once taken into Roman custody. Knowing the politics of Rome, generally ... seems pretty unlikely that they'd be allowed to live and clutter up inheritance and politics .... That family was pretty keen to keep a firm grip on power. Children had a way of disappearing if they had inconvenient parentage.
