"borrowing" artPosted by Anne on June 7, 2001 at 12:08:45: In reply to: Blue Lotus Henna Spammers posted by Andi Houston on June 6, 2001 at 22:57:09: You know, copying something that someone else did and using it foryour own use is fine if it's clip art (or some other type of public domain work) or if you're in elementary school and working on a project. Adults should know better than to take work that has not been done by them and is not clip art-type stuff then use it without permission. Plagerism of any sort is not a good thing and reflects badly on the person who's done it. Many of the artists who frequent this forum have had thier work - be it pictures, text, etc. - "borrowed" without permission. I don't think anyone here would be as upset as Kree is without good reason. Removing the item in question is not solivng a problem, it's avoiding the ethical and legal issues surrounding it. On an off note, one of the lists I'm on has had a 'bitching and slagging' week wherein people vent their anger over all the things that drive them crazy. Web pages that have been up for years but not updated in some time didn't make it on to my rant (people who make up thier own history a la the Cleopatra business a bit further down the page did), but should have. What's the point of having a page, especially one related to a business, and not updating it? And what's the point of having an email address there that doesn't work? Anne All the : henna is done by me, but frankly very few people create their own : art, me included. It's all copied from somewhere! The email address : on the page has been defunct for almost a year, I probably haven't : looked at the page myself in 2 months. Well, I have nuked the site : completely, and I will redo it without that picture or the background : that someone else is claiming is theirs. Problem solved. : : Andi Houston : Blue Lotus Henna : Nashville, TN
