Jamaican cruise, black henna, and an informed decisionPosted by Kim on June 8, 2001 at 19:37:47: Hi all,I'm feeling really good right now...a friend from work just back from her cruise and she just had to tell me about her experience in Jamaica. She says they were out sight-seeing and came across a booth advertising henna tattoos. She was with her two teenage daughters and four teenage nephews. They all wanted to get a tattoo so they stopped by the booth. When she saw that they were using black henna she bluntly told the man that it wasn't real henna. He assured her it was and she again told him that safe henna should be green and stain brown not black and what he was using was very harmful. He then got defensive and said he was using india ink, not PPD. She decided not to take any chances and left. The reason I feel so good about this is beacuse this woman knew absolutely nothing about henna until she saw a design on my hand and asked me about it. She then asked if it came in any other color and at that point I told her of the dangers of PPD black henna. She has the attention span of a flea so I was surprised to hear she remembered. I guess I able to paint a big enough doom and gloom picture for her. That's 6 people saved from potential harm...thanks to Jeremy, CCJ, and all the wonderful people on this forum I was able to give my friend this info so she could make an informed decision. Thank you, Kim
