Sweat and high HR = good stain!Posted by Anne Beltestad on June 11, 2001 at 20:22:40: In reply to: Exercise is the secret to (henna) health!! posted by Lauren on June 11, 2001 at 19:01:20: Hey Lauren,Congrats! Isn't it lovely to do a really nice design and get a great stain? Hooray for the deities of henna... When I was a bike racer, a year and a half ago now, I discovered nothing made my henna go way dark like the combination of sweat and getting my heart rate up near its max. Heat is crucial, and a combination of a hot day, getting your hr up into the anaerobic ("without oxygen") levels, and acidic sweat means good henna! I find it works best towards the later stages of having henna on...like 16, 24 hours out instead of sooner. This, for me, prevents smearing. Recently I did a beautiful design on my palm then had a really sweaty and intense martial arts class and at the end of the class (24 hours or so after applying henna) it went BLACK. no kidding. Isn't it fun what body chemistry can do? Hey, everytime you post your link I can't access it - it says access denied. Can you give your url in text so a poor luddite can see your site? dark stains, anne : I am so so SOOOO jazzed! I mixed up some henna paste with my usual : lemon juice, sugar, and a bit of eucalyptus oil. I applied it as the : musicians were warming up at a hafla this past Saturday. I put one : layer of NuSkin on and did not wrap it, then I got up and danced. It : was a bit warm in the room but not so I was sweating until I danced. : I danced for about an hour when I noticed that the henna in some of : the solid patches on my fingertips had come off. The color : underneath was an INCREDIBLY dark vermilion red-orange. It looked : like it was six hours old, not one. I figured that if it was this : dark already, I might as well pick the rest off, and it was indeed : this color all over my hand. The next morning, it was a deep red : brown, the ideal color in my opinion. It has deepened over the next : day but has not lost its' red, which is unusual in my experience. I : am SO pleased! (but what a time to lose the USB cord for my digital : camera! I have pics but can't put them anywhere! Aargh!)
