granular vs sloopyPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 14, 2001 at 04:09:07: In reply to: Re: perhaps there is an answer posted by Kenzi on June 14, 2001 at 03:42:17: : Curious...why do you think a j-bottle would be better for terpine-: laced henna? : : Inquiring j-bottles users want to know! I fiddled with both ... and the carrot bag is like useing a brush as opposed to a magic marker. See the way my line look on the pic at the bottom of the page at the link below? I get a lot of variation out of the "sleeky sloopy pull" factor of henna paste made only with lemon juice and rainy season henna.... like painting with a sumi brush. The Jac bottle doesn't behave that way ... very controlled, very much like a pilot pen. Little drape and pull happening. The orifice in the jac is rigid, the carrot bag flexible. The Jac always has the same size line, the carrot favors variation. I'll grant that carrot bags are more difficult to learn, because they're so sensitive to touch. That favors sleeky slooey henna. and .... I think the un-terped henna just plain "flows" easier. Terps must somehow alter the "stringiness" of henna and give it a granular texture intead. The terped henna seemed to clot and hang on the tip of the carrot bag ... much wiping and fussing .... I just couldn't get my typical graceful eenieweenie lines. Both can be used to excellent effect .... I'm partial to the sensitivity of "sloopy" henna. Gwyn prefers the control of "granular" henna.
