Questions for Matthew of MehndiMudPosted by Alissa Hall on June 22, 2001 at 16:34:26: I recently received a QP of your LifeArt powder and 2 oz. of Oil, andmade my first batch and it's absolutely lovely to work with. My questions are about the longevity of Mud vs. the paste version that I mix myself. Your site mentions Mud can be kept indefinitely if frozen between uses. Is that because of the food preservative in Mud, or does this apply to the LifeArt powder and Oil also? Or does the self-mix average the same as most hennas, i.e. about 2-3 days if refrigerated between uses? And, can I really freeze and unfreeze batches as much as I like without damaging the henna's staining power? As far as preservatives go, is there anything I can add to the self mix to make it last longer, or is "the secret in the Mud mix"? I like mixing myself, and find it cost-effective of course. But finding a longer lasting paste would be great. I intend to buy a strainer from your site and have been lusting and coveting over your pro-kit for days! Hopefully once a few more jobs are behind me I will be ready to spend so more dough, if Lakshmi is kind. Also, I recommend to clients to leave henna on overnight for max color of stain and design longevity. But, from reading previous forum posts it sounds like only a few hours of leaving it on are needed for LifeArt powder, or is that just for Mud? I'm gearing up to do some festivals later this summer and would like to use your product, but I'm curious what you would recommend as the proper length of time to leave on paste made from your product? Thank you in advance for any input that you can provide.
