Now that I'm in a nearly corporate world, contained and way casual, but real world nonetheless, I try to play it fairly safe and only have my palms done. Of course, that may end up weirder as people tend to notice, but aren't sure what they are noticing and don't want to be terribly rude, *just* in case. I had one guy, after staring at my hands for a while exclaim "OH! You did that didn't you?" He said he wanted to make sure before speaking as he thought I had a skin disorder. Now, I do get some smart-alecky remarks- "Hey your hands are dirty!" That kind of juvenile stuff, but I take it in stride as this is the same person who referred to my poster of al-Fatiha in Arabic as 'heathen stuff.' I don't know you personally, but here, most people aren't surprised by something like henna coming from me. Most are fascinated and some, not rudely tho, just shake their heads and wonder where I come from. (or where from I come, please pardon my prepositional ending!) I guess depending on your field and if you might have to deal with customers/clients you might want to consider talking to your boss about it. If anything I would speak up somehow or another; let people know that you are utilising/practicing a world culture element (and depending on your area note that it isn't religious OR heathen, heh heh) and not just scribbling on yourself instead of working! : What kind of experiences has everyone had with wearing henna in a : visible place (hand, etc.) at work? I took a chance and have some on : my hand today. Nobody has said anything yet, but I think my boss : looked at me funny. She probably thinks it's magic marker! :P How : have other people handled this?
