I usually have henna on my feet and ankles sometimes up the leg. It's visible but not obvious, which is the way to go in an environment where they mow the lawns daily and are very concerned about appearences. The reactions I've gotten from my students and co-workers have been positive and usually surprised. The kids usually know what it is and are surprised when they find out I did it and know anything about henna. (These are usually the African or Indian students). Usually their next question is asking if I'm Lebanese or Arabic (apparently I look Arabic). My co-workers were just sort of fascinated, having never seen it before.I've avoided using henna during the school year on my hands because the higher ups would not appreciate it. A side note: many of us have said that many people are dumbstruck when seeing henna on the hands; this probably explains why its been used by women for so long. Especially in cultures where women aren't at the top of the social hierarchy. Sounds like henna is a great way to get the last word without saying a thing. Just a thought, happy henna-ing! Linda
