SLIP SLOP SLAPPosted by Anne Manning on June 28, 2001 at 00:22:20: In reply to: Re: Henna on sunburn? posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 27, 2001 at 19:34:33: : : Bizarre looks aside, would henna help sunburn cool and fadefaster? : : : What about using henna that was old enough to not stain anymore? : : Henna on sunburn disappears faster than a $10 bill at a bikini bar. : : Yes, it is cooling. Use antique henna with tapwater and no time for : dye release, wash it off quickly. But ... aloe works better! : : Better yet ... learn to love your SPF. : : My personal fav for sunburn is the preparations with benzocaine. I : religiously acquired sunburns every weekend when I was a teenager in : LA trying to be a bronzed "beach bunny" during the 60's "surfer : craze".. 40 years hence, my arms epidermal layer can tell you : precisely how stupid it is to expose Scots/Irish fishbelly skin to : California sunshine. Ugly ... Yes I agree with Catherine on this one, aloe vera works well, but the best relief is, not getting suburnt. A Little Rant ... Born in the UK, I was one of those 'lucky' people with olive skin which very rarely burns. We emigrated to Australia in 1980, and my mother always coated my sisters & I with sunscreen each morning, and moisturized us each night. My Aussie friends thought this was hillarious, but 20 yrs later they are not laughing any more. At age 30, I too have problems convincing some establishments that I am 'of age', never mind being the mother of four kids. Consider also, that this was 20 yrs ago, when a tan was cool & we didn't even know the cause of skin cancer.
