Re: Aftercare InstructionsPosted by Alissa on July 3, 2001 at 21:36:03: In reply to: Aftercare Instructions posted by Cheryl on July 3, 2001 at 19:35:46: I have this printed on a 4x5 piece of paper that I hand out to folks.I also go over a lot of it verbally beforehand, and tell them not to worry about remembering everything I'm saying, because it's also on the aftercare sheet. This usually allows them to ask specific questions if they have any. After care treatment for your Mehndi design ~ Leave the paste on for the next 6-24 hours. The longer you leave it on, the darker and longer lasting your design will be. Overnight, you can cover the area in tissue, then wrap with plastic wrap, an Ace bandage, or wear an old sock to keep the area protected. ~ Keep warm! Henna reacts to heat, so sit in the sun, drink hot tea, or stay bundled up in winter. Keep still! This will keep the paste from flaking off excessively from your skin while you wait. ~ To remove paste, simply scrape it off. Use oil sparingly to help remove any excess. Do not use water or baby oil. Your design will be a light orange to reddish color, but will darken dramatically over the next 24-48 hours after paste is removed. ~ Do not wet the area for the next 12 hours, if possible. Do not scrub the area, exfoliate, use suntan lotion, or expose to chlorinated water. These will all strip the design. Use gloves while doing dishes. Taking special care of your design will greatly improve its longevity. ~ Watch your design darken and enjoy! Most designs last 1-3 weeks, depending on skin type and after care treatment. For those designs that you hate to see fade away, remember reapplications to existing designs are 25-50% off from original price.
