I tried to make it possible for people to havefree food and board (or as near to that as could be) if they could get themselves here. As long as I can fit it around a university schedule .... I'm game. At the festivals where I go lecture, we do a bit of negotiation each time. In return for 4 or more classes, I get room and board, and travel expenses. Or, in lieu of travel expenses, they give me an opportunity to vendor, or let me collect fees for classes. Find a place ... even a girl scout or church campground, that's willing to rent the place out off season for cheap. Do try for something that has cooking facilities. See what the place requires in terms of deposits and lead time and all. See if you can collect non-refundable deposits from potential goers who will get price breaks on accomodations when they get there. Use that to reserve the place. Each person who wants to host a conference is going to know the lay of the land a whole lot better than I ..... I've got the info on classes, structure, suppliers, contacts. We can work together! And .... there will always be henna classes as Sirius Rising at Brushwood, but there's no reason the Henna Conference can't be a moveable feast!
