Henna powderPosted by LJ on July 5, 2001 at 10:18:52: Anyone thinking of using henna powder, go to www.spicedirect.co.ukwhere you will find several colours in liquid or powder. I wanted to get my hair from chemical blonde back to my natural shade of brown. I didn't want to use chemical shop dyes as they penetrate the hair shaft and will alter the texture and structure of the hair. I tried the brown powder and took a chance as it's not recommended for blonde hair.I only left it on for about 15 mins and not the full time stated as i was a bit worried about the outcome. My hair went a dark green colour and yes i thought shit! but after two days it turned into a perfect shade of brown. The texture totally unaffected and it was shiny and soft. I did it again a month later leaving it on for the time stated and it went darker brown but no sign of any green. Two months later the colour is still going strong and it actually looks like natural hair. i was lucky that the colour matches my roots so i can grow out the treated hair without anyone noticing. I recommend this way of colouring hair as there's no chemicals but do wear gloves when applying it!
