THANKS There are two things that make henna relesae its dye- heat and acid. If your henna is very fresh, mere hot water will get it going. At any rate, heat is essential. I've tried henna in cold times (don't even get me started about that Halloween show...) and it simply doesn't work. I don't know about boiling, but hot, definitely. I use as hot as my fingers can stand, which I figure will get the dye out but not cook it.
