The label on my bottle of rubber cement says "avoid frequent or
prolonged skin contact". It really gives me a headache whenever I use
it, so I'm assuming it's not the safest choice for keeping your henna
on, even if it makes the design look great.

It seems funny to worry so much about the ingredients of hair dye,
but not to be bothered by hair spray, nail polish remover, glue, etc.
I know these products aren't a danger on the level of PPD, but
doesn't it seem strange to anyone else?

The lemon sugar is a bother to use. I've gotten pretty good results
with a facial mask mixture. The mask needs to be thinned with liquid,
like l/s or lemon & water, or straight lemon juice. I have started
appling the mix with a small soft paint brush. It usually doesn't
disturb or distort the design at all, as long as I don't get it too
sloppy, and one or two coats will keep the henna on untill I peel it
off. The only drawback I've found so far is I wish the mask dried
harder. It won't usually stay on all night. Maybe adding more sugar
would make it last longer?
