Yup I hear ya there, my dad is less than apprecitave of my artwork as
well. I often ask him to have a look at it cause he's an awesome
artist and so is my lil sis, and I'd like to have them recognize that
I'm decent when my canvas is skin and my medium is henna. But I
always get the exasperated sigh and the "what is it more of that body
art stuff?" question. With the paste on my feet or hands he kind of
looks at me like I'm diseased and or nuts completely, like I went
outide and covered them with mud from the garden. He makes little
cracks about it on the occasion... like this will just lead to
tattoos and body piercings all over you... and God made your body
beautiful, it doesn't need improvement. First off I have one set of
earring holes in my ears and wouldn't dream of getting anything else
pierced. Furthermore anyone that knows me knows I wouldn't get a
tattoo, I'm too fickle in what I like and don't like and what if it
wasn't the way I wanted it, I'd be stuck with it forever. Believe me
I may be younger than you, but I'm in the same nay-sayer dad boat.
