Better to make your own sifter.Posted by Faery Ring on August 4, 2001 at 00:08:46: In reply to: Green lung, the disease of those who use well-sifted henna posted by Lauren on August 3, 2001 at 20:10:25: I have made my own and it works very well without the dust. I havethe Sift-o-matic from Castle Arts and I have had problems with it. First the top cap must be held down while shaking so it is very uncomfortable. Second the bottom cup is not very secure so you get leakage. What really works well for me is to obtain some sort of container with a secure plastic snap-on lid. I am using a small plastic ice cream tub with a plastic lid or you could try a Tupperware container. One good thing about the Tupperware is that it is clear so you can see when the henna powder stops sifting through. Then place a fine cloth over the tub and secure with a rubber band. Add a mound of henna powder and a marble on top of the cloth and then snap the lid on top. Then shake and tap the container. The henna will fall through to the bottom of the container. The snap-on lid is the key to keeping the henna powder from getting all over the place. I like to sift and strain. I found that if you don’t sift first straining becomes difficult because of all the big chunks that get caught in the pantyhose.
