But that doesn't mean that someone who believes that they can't draw can't do henna either. If you can draw a straight line with a pencil you can do the same with henna. And just start out like that, draw some straight lines. Then connect some straight lines at different angles to make squares and triangles. Then draw circles. Then put a square with a cirle in it, with a triangle inside that. Add some dots..anyone can draw dots! Just keep working at it and you will find that you can draw. Also, try not to say that you can't draw, even if deep inside you still believe it. If you say the words, out loud or to yourself, you start to create a reality. Everytime you hear yourself saying that, just change it to something in-between like, "I am learning to draw", or "I am trying to draw"...eventually you will feel comfortable saying "I can draw". The proof of this is my henna assistant who watches me do henna and always says she can't draw. She would take leftover henna bottles home with her after our gigs and just play around with them doing squiggles and dots. Gradually her lines are getting finer and more controlled and her designs are getting more and more complicated. Her last batch of designs was very impressive. She still feels that she cannot copy designs so when we do gigs she will often tell people that she will henna them (especially if thereis a long line of impatient people) as long as they don't feel like choosing a design. Go for it and don't think about it. Come back here with photos, new discoveries and advice any time. I am always coming back here and learning new things each time.
