NS, astringents, and sugarPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on August 8, 2001 at 02:03:47: In reply to: how do you do New Skin?? posted by Rosemary on August 8, 2001 at 00:10:44: If you don't like New Skin, don't use it. It's just one of an arrayof options ... each of which is appropriate for some situations, and not appropriate for others. Put NS on only when the henna is crusty dry. If you want it off fast, use nail polish remover. You can improve stain on upper arms and backs by carefully stripping the oil out of the skin first, with witch hazel, rubbing alcahol, or some other astringent. Also, don't expect much out of recently sunburned skin. When you henna these difficult areas, open up the tip so you have larger, thicker lines. More henna = more stain. ] We also found at Sirius that a bit of sugar in the paste kept the henna on the skin longer and improved the stain. I'm not convinced that sealers of any sort improve the characteristics of terped pastes. They seem to need access to the air to rapidly darken. Though we did get some spectacular results with NS'ed terped pastes, NS delayed thedarkening process until the paste was removed and the skin exposed to air for oxidation.
