Re: I think that terpineol = a-terpineolPosted by txilar on August 9, 2001 at 22:39:50: In reply to: I think that terpineol = a-terpineol posted by Faery Ring on August 9, 2001 at 21:53:54: Terpineol is the precursor to alpha, but they aren't the same. Idon't think that alpha terpineol would have the same effects as pure terpineol necessarily. Like Catherine mentioned, terpineol all by itself does have some effect, but the exciting part about essential oils is best paralleled by this: "Herbal medicines act as "synergistic shotguns," in contrast with single-ingredient, synthetic "silver bullet" pharmaceutical drugs. The many ingredients in polypharmaceutical herbs may work by multiple mechanisms to improve therapeutic activity, in either a cumulative or synergistic manner. Herbs may also contain compounds that mitigate the side effects of their predominant active ingredients." In other words, all the combined efforts of the essential oils are more powerful in sum, than their single parts and leave us with not only fast acting excellent stains, but wonderful scents as well. Aesthetically, and what else is henna but aesthetic, the pure essential oils are just one more gift from mother nature to bond with henna and ourselves. Thanks for the cool link to The Good Scents company! Have you ordered from them and liked the results? I loved their product listings. Alpha-Terpineol biological activities are: ACE-Inhibitor; Aldose-Reductase-Inhibitor; Antibacterial; Anticancer; Anticariogenic; Antiseptic; FLavor; Motor-Depressant; Nematicide; Perfumery; Pesticide; Sedative; Termiticide; Terpineol biological activities are: Antiallergenic; Antiasthmatic; Antibacterial; Anticancer; Antiproliferant; Antiseptic; Antitussive; Cholagogue; Expectorant; Insectifuge; Perfumery; Pesticide; : I think that terpineol = a-terpineol. There are other isomers of : that molecule. I think that common variant is alpha or a-terpineol : and that is the type that they sell.
