Re: HELP! Need inspiration for a bridal party-- a little advicePosted by Nick on August 10, 2001 at 15:14:14: In reply to: HELP! Need inspiration for a bridal party posted by CorasMama on August 10, 2001 at 06:28:59: (I hope someone else more knowledgeable can elaborate on weddings forme! But here's what i think.) You are right, the bride typically has the most intricate and beautiful henna designs. I think this is true for most cultures which have the tradition of bridal henna. An Indian bride will have her hands and feet intricately covered in dense patterns, and a Moroccan bride will be decorated in the same way, only using very different designs. I think the best way to go about it is to bring a lot of designs, and ask the bride to pick a few that she likes. That way you can combine elements from each one to give her a custom bridal henna. Just be sure to bring patterns that you can do, so you don't get swamped. I have had one too many instances where the person i'm hennaing picks a design that i *thought* i could do, but then i loose it and it ends up totally different! Email me if you want me to send some pictures of bridal type designs that i have done. ~Nick : A friend of my husband's is getting married soon, and I asked, : timidly because I didn't know how she'd react, if she'd heard of the : tradition of a Henna party before a wedding. SHE SQUEELED!!! She : had really wanted to be hennaed for the wedding, but she had no idea : how to get it. So now I'm so happy to be doing a her bachelorette : party! : : But now I need inspiration for her feet, hands, and smaller designs : for the bridal party. What are some wedding-specific styles/themes? : Is there anything I shouldn't do? I know that the bridal party gets : smaller, less conspicuous (sp?) designs than the bride, but I don't : know any other bridal henna ettiquette. : : Thank you
