Really Red Iranian Henna...and Henna in CrockPosted by Maureen on August 11, 2001 at 20:25:21: I have made contact with Dr. Atabaki in Iran to purchase some of hishenna. He sells in really large quantities. Way more than is needed for personal use. If there is enough interest in this henna I will order it and offer it for sell. Catherine has a pic of Iranian henna on her site. I have tried to link it below. Hope it works. Please let me know if you would have any interest in this product. There is no sense in my ordering such quantity and having to will it to my ancestors. Maybe this is how captalism begins. Also, does anyone know of a good or bad reason why henna powder should not be preserved in a crock. I have some small and medium sized glazed crocks and bottles made of terra cotta and clay and wanted to put some of my henna powder in them. The powders always seem to come in boxes and plastic wrap. I am sure that powders were stored in something other than cardboard and plastic back in the day. I imagine crocks were used to keep things fresh. But I don't know if switching to the boxes and plastic is about convenience alone or if the boxes and plastic actually will keep the henna powder fresher longer. I remove my cooking flour, pan cake mix and corn meal from the paper and cardboard boxes and bags and store them almost forever in glazed ceramic or glass containers...but I don't know if we are talking about the same thing with henna. I would appreciate your thoughts on what you think would happen to henna over time in such containers? Thanks. p.s. I got Catherine's book today and it is well worth getting. Anyone getting the book probably has Catherine's drawing of "Reverend Bunny"...this is the cutest, funniest and most honery bunny ever! Go 'head Catherine! Maureen
