what a beautiful post, Sian!Posted by Alissa on August 13, 2001 at 05:42:01: In reply to: *what I did with Henna on my holidays" (bit long) posted by Sian on August 12, 2001 at 13:00:17: I can't tell you how much i admire your story, and your ability touse henna as a new and safe outlet for your need to cut. I have amateur-studied the issue, and my sister was once a cutter herself. I adore the fact that your henna addiction, i.e. your self adornment, is eclipsing the self destruction. This seems so literally symbolic to me -- moving from inflicting pain on your skin into creating art. I totally understand how you have found a creative new way to turn your intense need to find that hyper-focussed state of mind, the one that blocks out all other thoughts, into a form of art instead of a form of pain. There is an incredible "light" behind your words that must surely be coming from your renewed spirit. Keep up the amazing journey you are on and be sure to keep us informed along the way. I am sure I am not alone in saying that many here on the forum support you.
