I can't tell you how much i admire your story, and your ability to
use henna as a new and safe outlet for your need to cut. I have
amateur-studied the issue, and my sister was once a cutter herself. I

to me -- moving from inflicting pain on your skin into creating art.

I totally understand how you have found a creative new way to turn
your intense need to find that hyper-focussed state of mind, the one
that blocks out all other thoughts, into a form of art instead of a
form of pain. There is an incredible "light" behind your words that
must surely be coming from your renewed spirit.
