I've been using terped paste with pretty good color on my dark hued skin. I recently tried Jamila instead of Castle Art henna and I found I had a problem with it too. I had to experiment for what worked with the Jamila. What happened to me is, after I mixed it, if I left it out in just a J-bottle with my tip on -it lost all it's power to stain decently. I mix my Jamila henna with lime juice and a bit of sugar, leave it out overnight. In the morning I've mixed Tea Tree oil into it to the consistency I want and I put it in an air-tight Tupperware container. After about 8 hours, I transfer it to a ziploc bag (which I use to fill my J-bottles. If my bottle is not going to be capped, I put it in a ziploc or I use it immediately. I also refrigerate my paste if I'm not using it within the next 8 hours. I generally leave the paste on 30 minutes to an hour and my stains have been coming out a light orange when the paste is removed and darkening to between a dark brown to a deep cherry (almost black). Hope this helps you!..it's just my experience. ~Angie
