Yup, sounds like old henna. Good, fresh henna will give a decent
stain when used with lemon juice and nothing else. I wish you luck
finding good stuff. There are other people who post here who are
from Australia...maybe someone can help you find a supplier of good
henna. If that fails, many of the suppliers listed on this site
(click on "where" at the top of the Henna Page) will ship to
Australia. I sell henna and will ship to Australia (link below).
