No traffic on FIFTH AVENUE!!!Posted by Maureen on September 12, 2001 at 05:37:26: In reply to: Report from Oakland posted by Sarah B on September 12, 2001 at 02:41:05: Hi Sarah,Glad to see your post. That is scarey. I don't believe that has ever happened before. With all of the hospitals in Oakland, I imagined there would be the helicopters flying over. But the planes really spotlight the state of alert the area is in. People are walking and driving around McKeesport kind of in a daze. No one is talking about what has happened. I have been on the phone all day with friends and family from around the country where everyone is in a state of disbelief. Some stores in McKeesport closed up like the flea market, West Coast Video and the magistrates office. But other than that, there is no indication that anything exceptional is going on. There is something so surreal about this. I feel like McKeesport is acting. Hope you get some sleep tonight. Carlow will be a good place to be during times like this. That is what I liked about Carlow. It is small and personal with a female spirit...it is a good holding environment during troubled times. It is good to have that experience so you can learn how to create such an environment in the world when you leave Carlow. In the middle of all of this today, I went to Pat Catan's and got some unnecessary art stuff. They had the applicator bottles there again for $.33 a piece. Again I bought all of them. They only had 31 today. But for your henna thing, it will be good for you to know that you can get them there cheaper than anywhere else I know. If you want, I can pick you up some the next time they have them in. Let me know. If you don't know where Pat Catan's is located, I will have to take you there one day. The two locations I go to are the ones in McKees Rocks and West Mifflin (right across from Kennywood Park). Anyway, sleep tight. This stuff will take care of itself. I am going to sleep asking and knowing that the Lord will take care of me and mine and theirs. Maureen...going downstairs to hug my son and count my blessings.
