Was henna used by homosexuals and transsexuals in the past?

I am gay and a henna artist, my clients are mainly gay men. They ask
if henna was used by homosexual and transsexuals. I am thinking yes,
but not sure when or were. Does any know, or can lead me to resources
for this information.

By the way I am a little nervous about mentioning this on this forum.
I hope everyone is ok out it.
