In reply to: henna colors for hair, & anyone use terps on hair? posted by Sarah Jasmijn on September 14, 2001 at 12:36:12:

: I have one question: Has anybody tried a terped mix on hair? If so,
I'd love to know how it turned out.
:
: I've died my own hair with pure henna & lemon juice, & I love the
color it's become. Red suits me fine!
: I'm hoping the color will deepen with additional hennaing, but this
is beautiful too. I love the way the highlights *shine* in the light.

I didn't use leftovers but went to ziba's and bought their henna that
they use for doing mehndi. i mixed it 5 days before i wanted my hair
done. i use lemon juice with spiced black tea and let it sit for 24
hours on the counter and then added a little frankincence and pine. i
let that sit around 3 or 4 days and then did my hair. my hair is
naturally ash brown but i had been dyeing it red, verious shades for
over 15 years. i had my hair put into cornrow braids so that it was
ok for it to not be dyed and let it go for 4 months before hennaing
it. i took the braids out, vasilined my ears etc. and plopped the
henna goose goo into my hair. i left it in for 2 1/2 hours with a cap
on it and a nuked hot damp towel. i heated up the towel a couple of
times. it came out a beautiful reddish brown and smells wonderful,
but then i love the straight henna smell too. every time i do it now
my hair is getting softer and softer. i am glad i started and will
never go back to dying. my hair had gotten totally burnt out and
frizzy and now the curl is comeing back. yea!!!!!
