In my heart I have trouble fully facing this issue b/c I suspect this
will be a long and terrible event in our history. Instead, I focus on
the people I interact with in the here and now and try to do the best
that I can to be the person I want most to be -- compassionate,
caring, strong. My feelings on the issue itself, on this new war (and
arent all wars unholy?), are confusing to me -- and being a libra to
the bone I am a "paralysis by analysis" person by nature, constantly
looking at both sides and never coming to a conclusion. We need to
act or else risk being seen as easy targets for future attacks, but
that action and its consequences scares me and I shy away from the
prospect of it.

I fear for my child, as others here are saying, and I also fear the
racial indiscriminate hatred that this engenders. I believe in prayer
and pray in bits and pieces often during each day. I remind those who
may listen that this is not a war against a nation, or a religion, or
an ethnicity, but against terrorists wherever and whoever they are.

You are astute to realize questions from the heart receive answers
from the same place ... and when we are lucky, our actions (personal,
not the nation's political actions) will as well. For myself, I just
keep praying, as much for my own comfort as in hopes it will help the
world at large.
