re terpines, how many?

Also if ( and only if) they are the highest, could they be used
safely indoors, latexed, and kept out of light, after all many people
wrap a paste, which would keep the light out. Or would the
phototoxisity ( is that a word?) still take effect until the stain
faded, ie would the oil still have strentgh from the stain as well as
the paste?
