Henna on my bleached, permed hair - TRULY unexpected resultsPosted by CorasMama on September 22, 2001 at 20:14:32: My hair naturally is a very boring dark blond, and it can't seen todecide if it is wavy or straight. So I've been dying my hair various shades of blonde, strawberry blond, and auburn for about a decade, and I got a perm about 6-8 weeks ago. I know what result I should get if I use henna on it -- yucky interaction with the artificial hair dye. But I'm the curious sort, and I wanted to see what particular shade of yuck I'd get, so I did the bottom three inches of a chunk that wouldn't matter if I had to trim 3 inches off. I used some henna that I'd just done my hand with, containing TT, lavendar, cinnamon leaf, and sweet orange EOs. I only left it on for about 2 minutes, and when I rinsed it off, expecting something in the yuckybrown- babypoopgreen-black-gray spectrum. But it's a gorgeous orange/red. Like Old West Saloon Girl red. Why didn't it get ugly? I am the queen of abusing my hair with chemicals!
