Well I can't answer for everyone....Posted by Shel on September 24, 2001 at 08:35:46: In reply to: Why henna? posted by Evan on September 24, 2001 at 07:46:51: My first thoughts when I "discovered" henna was what a wonderful wayto have a "tattoo" (which henna really isn't) and not be stuck with it permenently. Then I discovered the beauty and grace of fine-lined detailed and lacy designs, the bold strikingness (if that's a word *grin*) of the geometric tribal designs, and the fun of mixing the two. Then there's the feeling of being connected to generations upon generations of people who have used it throughout the ages as I mix and apply my own henna. The knowing that I am continueing and making my own a tradition that will continue long after me. I can't forget the joy of watching a design darken into such glorious shades of reds and browns, knowing that I created the patterns. The ability to decorate my skin with beauty to celebrate a moment in time and then watch it fade, as all things in life must, into memory. Last but most certainly not least are the friends here on the forum who daily share so very much from discoveries, to stories, to ideas, to laughter, to tears with each other. In short (I think I missed short a while ago...LOL), my life would be a little less colorful, a little less expressive, a little less creative, and missing a lot of fun without henna.
