If you just use powder and hot water it will not dry your hair. You will get a copper penny color on lighter hair-like my fading red hair- and higlights on darker hair. The longer you leave it the more intense it will get. I haven't gotten up the courage to try for a more radical shade yet, but from what I have read here, if you want richer colors (more auburn) you need to add things, just like for the skin. The acid-lemon, lime or tea will strip the oils from your hair. (that is why rinsing with them is recomended if you have very oily hair). That is what is drying the hair. The henna may even be preventing it from doing even worse damage to the hair! Does anyone know if doing a hot oil treatment after would help the hair or hurt the henna? jolynn-the color whimp with very soft hair, thanks to henna. : I heard that if you henna too much it'll dry your hair out. But that : seemed kinda weird coz doesn't henna moisturize your hair?
