hi to all!
Some of you may know that I started my MFA in graphic design
this year. I chose my major project for the semester and guess
what? it's henna related.
I am doing a book on henna, but i will focus on a different aspect,
I will try to show/explain the changes the art of henna has
endured ever since it became a "fashion" thing here in the US.
If any of you has any information on the subject (like links where I
can find fashion related articles that talk about henna). or just
simple comments, I would REALLY appreciate it (of course ALL
contributor will be listed in the book and quotes and names will
be included, unless you don't want me to)
here are some things to talk about:
how do you feel as a henna artist that henna is viewed as a
"fashion" thing?
what do you think is the future of henna? will it be forgotten by
most of the public (except us henna lovers)? or will it gain
recognition as an art form?
What are the MAJOR differences between the "traditional" use of
henna in India and other middle eastern countries and the use
of henna here in the US?
What are the major changes the art of henna has suffered since
it "came" to the US?(recipies, ingredientes, applications, uses?)
I will appreciate any comment you have.
Email me privately and/or post here
Also, I will include a lot of pictures, so if you have any good
pictures of your fabulous henna work laying around and want to
get some recognition, email me and lets talk about them
thanks
Jazibe
