Henna as fabric dye?

Hiya guys. Pretty sure this topic has been done before, but can'tfind the posts, so: does anyone know whether or not henna can be used
as a fabric dye? Obviously it stains anything it looks at, but is it
that long-lasting on fabric?
Want to branch out my custom clothing range into henna-patterned
stuff, and thought it would be cool if I could actually use henna to
do it.
