henna-ing childrenPosted by naynay on October 8, 2001 at 00:17:46: In reply to: a little one posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on October 7, 2001 at 03:17:49: I have worked in many daycare situations and can totally agree thatsmall children are fidgety. However, I feel by the age of six that children who are well behaved can sit still and will sit still when told to do so. My daughter, Aubrey is six and a half. She is a normal active child (definitely not perfect!)but when told to sit still with the end result being that she has a beautiful henna design to show off she will sit as long as it takes. The last design that I did on her was Liisa Lehmusto's fairy design (http://personal.inet.fi/koti/lehmusto/henna/eng/butterflying.html)at the bottom of the page. Not a hugely intricate design but it took me a little while to complete. I think a good rule of thumb in determining if a child can sit long enough to have henna done on them is if they can sit still and watch you do henna on someone else. I think you still need to explain what you are doing and talk to them too keep their attention so they don't close their hand or move their leg etc.. I do not have a whole lot of henna-ing experience here but I have done several friends children and this is what seems to hold true every time. Naynay (not the authority, just an observation)
