Henna on a child ... the lure of the Power Puff Girls!Posted by Jewel on October 8, 2001 at 07:46:45: In reply to: a little one posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on October 7, 2001 at 03:17:49: Pretty design, Catherine! Such a beautiful intricate work done on arestless person and at super speed too. Incidently, I did some henna on my 5 year old VERY restless and hyperactive niece on Sunday too. She looks like a sweet, innocent princess (pretty one too) ... until she starts playing. She plays like a boy, only more rowdy *grins*. She declined to be hennaed initially (she would do it ONLY if I could draw the Power Puff Girls) but after much cajoling from her mama, she thrusted her small hands on my lap and looked at me eagerly. I did a lotus with butterflies and vines up her fingers for the top of her left hand and a simple rosette and vines for her right. I think I finished everything in about 15 mins. All that time she was getting distracted every 2 seconds. She was twisting about, getting excited over everything, tapping her foot, laughing boisterously (making her small frame jiggle incontrollably). But she was good in keeping her hands perfectly flat and still though (wonder of wonders!). After I'm done, she asked if she could wash it off *GASPS*. She liked the designs though so we managed to coax her to be patient and let it dry. I told her (just as a distraction) to blow on her hands so that the henna dries more quickly and she did that for awhile till she spied my sketchbook (with drawings of the PP girls) and drawing pencils *groans*. She finally left after her henna has dried, holding her hands out, but always wiggling her fingers. I called her mama this morning and she told me that Dania was good and kept the henna on for 2 hours. The stain has darkened a dark brown on her fair skin. I'll try to get some pics of her hands in a couple of days. Love & peace, ~Jewel~ - who is getting hyped up about her sister's "Night of Henna" on Tuesday.
