Hi Gary,

When I first got into henna I tried Light Mountain, unfortunately
the "black" , which I understand to be the result of grafting indigo
into the henna plant, and it left nothing but a feeble, icky stain.
A friend tried this type of "colored" henna on her brownish-auburn
hair and it (the "black") gave a greyish tint that eventually washed
out.
While I think these sort of products, that is, those which have other
plant dyes added to the henna and are advertised as "100% natural"
or "organic" are fine for hair use, I am a bit concerned that they
mislead the general public about what henna is, and therefore
contribute to the PPD problem. Your statement below that this powder
is "100% Henna Powder" is factually incorrect.
Those of us who are henna body artists know henna doesn't "come in
different colors" ; as Kree, of Gilded Lilies in Seattle says in the
classes she teaches, "If it did, they'd have figured it out thousands
of years ago" ! However, the wider population is not aware of this
scientific fact and therefore people get burned with PPD or
disappointed by food-dye-based "colored" henna when applying it to
the skin.
It is my belief that all importers, wholesalers, beauty
professionals, not to mention henna artists, need to take a stand on
correcting these misconceptions, for it is these wrong ideas which
not only contribute to non-henna products being passed off as henna,
but also to the FDA's ban on the import of skin henna. In other
words, we all lose by the promotion of colored "henna" products.
Please consider more accurate advertising information for your own
sake as well as ours.

Thanks,
