Oh, a couple things I forgot to ask about (especially for CCJ)Posted by Lauren on November 5, 2001 at 15:18:58: In reply to: Wear 2 pairs of glasses, and take a magnifying glass with you. posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on November 5, 2001 at 04:13:46: In Spain: A History in Art by Bradley Smith, on page 88 there'a apainting of men playing at dice. Out of six guys, one of them has a possible fingertips-dipped on both hands, although they may be smudges, but one guy I'm sure about a dip. You only see one of his hands. In what situation would two mena have finger dips? I thought, maybe a groom, but would other members of a wedding party get dips? Also, in The Ahambra by Desmond Stewart on page 34 there's a picture of a statue which is described thusly: "In the roll call of cultures that washed across the Iberian peninsula, Islam is not alone in stemming from the eastern Mediterranean. The statue known as the Lady of Baza is graphic evidence of another, earlier one emanating not from Arabia but from Tyre, spreading its influence to Granada- where the statue was found- by way of the Phoenician outpost at Carthage. This statue, a funerary urn, is patterned after the Carthaginian deity Tanit and dates from the fourth century B.C." I don't know if you've seen this, but it pretty much holds your entire early History lecture together. Neat, huh? :)
