Another thought (from the zoology degree background) maybe you could
use pipette tips in place of metal tips in carrot/pastry bag type
arrangement. they come in a huge array of sizes, would be less
expensive than metal, are disposable (not really a good thing but if
you lost them it wouldnt matter much...)

hmm. will have to see if i can acquire some and try it.
