Dear Sir/Madam

RE: PERMISSION TO SELLING MY HENNA DESIGNS

My name is Mala Yogeeta Narayan and I was born in Fiji , Suva City . I live in Melbourne, Australia.

I have been professionally trained in Diploma of Business (Office Administration),
Certificate IV Business (Legal Services), Office and Trust Banking, Reception, Campaigning and Telemarketing. I have also worked in these areas too.

I have a great passion for henna arts and henna designs at fetes, festivals and creating my own henna designs at home. Professionally I am an introduction into this environment.

I have completed henna designing at:

• local community fetes and festivals such as Lilydale Fete and Mooroolbark Festival
• henna for wedding ceremonies for the girls and ladies
• market stalls such as Dingily Market
• home for family and friends
• Holi festival

I have completed a professional course in henna arts and designs with Ushar Jain Lankar who is from Gujarat, Mumbai, India. I have also completed hands on training for 6 months with Darshani Ranjan from Melbourne, Australia. Moreover, I have completed training in books by Art of Mehandi Teach Yourself Mehandi by Shalaka, and Mehndi Body Painting by Zaynab Mirza. And I have created basic, intermediate and advance designs created myself. Furthermore, I have also completed Teach Yourself to Henna Elements of Henna Patterns by HennaPage. I have also completed Practice Test with HennaPage.

I am interested in selling my henna designs which I have created myself at home. I would like to sell my designs locally and internationally via the Internet. Moreover I would like to approach HennaPage artists and other international henna artists which are available online.

I would also like to know, do I have to complete my HennaPage Test before I start selling my designs?

Mala Yogeeta Narayan.

CJ Edit: We don't permit direct selling on this forum. This forum is for the purpose of henna discussion. Commercial activity is strongly discouraged.

You do not need to pass any examinations to be a henna artist. It is very good that you take your work seriously, and study hard.

We do not permit people to sell directly through this forum, so I am removing that part of your post.

I did review your patterns, and did not find them suitable for publication through TapDancing Lizard.

I think a MySpace page would be a better place for you to ask people to buy your patterns.

Any person may surf the net. Surfing the net is simply browsing around looking at websites.

Posting information on websites is entirely different from just looking at websites.

Websites are privately owned. The person who owns a website will set the policy on whether other people may simply look at the website, or may post comments on the website, or may sell things on their website.

I strongly discourage people from using my website(s) to sell their products, largely because of insurance liability issues, and also when websites allow everyone to post commercial notices, the site turns into garbage very quickly (a spamtrap).

In this way, a website is like a house. Anyone may walk down the street and look at my house. If I invite them, they may come in the house. If they have good manners, they may visit my house often. However, if someone walks into my house and starts selling things to the other people walking down the street, I will stop them, or ask them to leave.

Other sites may have other policies, but this is my policy. Don't sell stuff here.

You do NOT have permission to sell your henna designs on this website. I did review your patterns and did not find them suitable for publication at TapDancing Lizard.

Dear Catherine Cartwright-jones

However, I would like to know that can I approach henna artists by my own email. I will email to any henna artists and HennaPage artists by giving them 2 free designs. If they want more of my designs they can purchase more later through money order. I will not be a part of TapDancing Lizard.

I will look forward to your reply.

Find a directory of henna artist's listings with their emails and email them. You can find several by googling "henna artist emails"

However, some people may consider this spamming and rather unwelcome ...

Very wierd. BUT I guess we should be happy she's polite enough to ask! But if they would not pass the mustard to be approached for a book....wonder what they look like?

Just a random thought.......

I too wondered what they looked like. But I figured that it would end up being more of a hassel than it was worth I really dont need any more internet spam. Good to know that's what it's amounted to. But sorry that it's happened to you ladies spam sucks. But on the other hand I kinda feel sorry for her and her desperate attempts to sell her designs. :0)

I wrote back reminding her that spam was way uncool right before I blocked her. . . why the heck would you go harvesting emails from the site where you'd sort of already been shot down? DURR!

Maybe scam, maybe not.

I get alot of spammy type email about "I like your stuff....please send me all your patterns" and "look at my patterns! I want you to buy them from me" and the ever popular "I want to be a pro like you, tell me everything you know" type of emails.

It's strange stuff....but I've gotten them.

I think the poor lady is just a bit. . . inept. . . with 'netiquette. I doubt there's a scam on, I just think she's not sure how to go about making business contacts in an acceptable manner.

To that, hey, go put up a webpage and offer your patterns there - ain't no harm in that. . . spam is, however, not cool.
