When I asked questions about the way their henna works from their YouTube video, (claiming that you need only mix it with water and that the paste can be applied instantly) the poster tried to tell me things like "The dye release is instant because it's fresh" and that you don't need an acidic liquid with "their" henna. I told him/her that if they recommended customers to use an acidic liquid, the dye would last a lot longer than the 4-6 weeks they said it lasts on their video.
At which point s/he promptly got mad, deleted all my comments, and stated s/e had "over 5,''' customers" ho would tell me I was wrong and that the stain lasts way longer than 6 weeks.
In short....they're hiding something! Do not buy from them!
Using water... lots of people do. You can get a respectable stain with water, but the chemistry supports deeper longer lasting stain with at least a dash of a mild acid.
Using water-mixed paste immediately... Lots of people do this too. Usually its done with boiling water to get instant release which makes for a highly unpredictable paste that gives results I find to be unacceptable.
Stains that last 6 weeks... Total BS! Without a doubt. The epidermis of healthy skin completely regenerates in about three weeks time. This is of course individual to some degree and depends on the thickness of the skin, age, and health. If the epidermis is completely saturated with lawsone, it simplpy CAN'T last much more that a month. PERIOD.
Everyone now and then someone sets up a booth near me claiming to have henna that lasts 6 weeks or some other silly thing. People come and ask why. I say without hesitation "because they lie."
Well, there is a way to get it to last six weeks - don't bathe. eeewwwwwwww.......
I had a friend who claimed her son's henna on his upper arm lasted three months. He was a 16 year old boy. Makes you wonder what he was actually doing in the shower!
as the mother of 2 boys, I can safely say....'sleeping standing up'. I don't know how they do it, but a boy can drain the hotwater tank by taking a long hot shower....still forget to wash anything and come out of the shower dirtier than when going in.
On a serious point - I have had young people (9-13 yrs) say that their henna has lasted a long time especially when done on the upper arm - shoulder. I normally do a school fayre at the end of summer term, and get reports from their parents that "last time it lasted well into when they were back at school" and that is at least 6 weeks minimum summer holiday in the UK.
I do look upon these as lucky exceptions rather than the rule!

I turned the hot water heater down to get them out!!
After practicing body surfing in the tub or diving
I know my boy would fill the tub with hot water , and then turn on the shower and lie down and sleep in there with the hot water being replenished and keeping him warm and comfy.
